Exclamation 1992 Camry transmission problems

I have a 1992 v6 camry with 192k. Just last night while I was driving it started having some problems. I would give it gas and the RPMs would climb, but it wasn't moving normally. Like for the amount of gas I would give, and as high as the rpms were I should have been moving much faster than what it was. There was also a shudder. The rpms would be around 3k or so and id barely be accelerating.

I am thinking it is a transmission problem, but is it torque converter? or is it something inside the transmission?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Corey.

Check trans fluid level.

How does the trans work in reverse?

Trans fluid level seemed good, and it's still red. Same deal in reverse, I would gas it and it would barely move, then I'd give it more gas and it would rev up way higher than what it used to, from 2-3k to creep back out of a parking spot.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Assuming the differential is OK and the fluid intake screen in the pan is clean, guessing the one way clutch on the torque converter. This would also explain the shutter.

But could be something internal to the trans such as a clutch pack or brake.

If it wasn't selonoid? Then its your forward clutches...smell your dipstick if it smell burnt then you burn your clutches. If the engine cold down it works normal if it warms up then you have same problem. Next you get OD blinking on you. Used tranny coz only $300 rebuilt $1500 so do the math.
