1mz-fe swap
I am looking for some information on swapping a V6 into my 2001 I4 Camry LE. I got the car a few years ago, and other than replacing some seals and basic maintenance the 5s-fe in the car has run amazing, however, after this summer I've been having issues with terrible fuel efficiency, I have checked everything from sensors to pulling off the intake to clean the throttle body. and now there is a clicking noise coming from the timing side of the motor that I cant locate. the motor and trans have 386 000km on them and stuff is just wearing out. My reasoning to swap a different motor is the fact that the person that I got the car from only drove it in the summers and it is in immaculate shape body wise, and I have replaced all the struts and almost all suspension components and bushings. I live in eastern Canada, so any old Camry is just rusted to the point of not saving it.
I was also hoping 5 speed swap while the car was all apart. my thought process was to get a whole subframe with a V6 from a junkyard, along with a 5 speed that would bolt up and also grab the ECU and cluster from the donor car. Is there anything else i would need?`

Is the 4 cylinder burning oil?
Suggest getting an ODBII scanner that can output engine performance data in real time.
Could a A/F sensor be bad, clogged emissions converter?
Get a section of rubber hose to use as a stethoscope. Check for injector noise.
As to the engine swap. A complete subframe with axles, brakes, suspension, etc might be a way to go. The subframe was the same but all the other parts are different. ECU plus wiring harness. Radiator and fan system. Exhaust. Alternator? The stick shift would have a different instrument cluster and wiring.
The swap has been done before, check the internet for threads on this.
