Default 97 motor

hello i got a 97 camry 4cyl and it poped. will a 96 fit

oh, I think it will... but if I were you I won't replace it.

well there is a 4 inch hole in the side of the block y not replace it.

The engine would fit but:

Check the ign system. Sometime after 1995 the engine started using a cam sensor then both cam and crank sensors. Make sure the new engine has the same sensor setup as the old.

The California emissions standard engine has a different head and other changes.
