I have a 95 Camry 4 cyl and changed the motor and the EGR valve had black crud in it. Now the check engine light has come on and I need to know what I can use to clean it so I do not damage the internal components. They are so expensive. The crud is where it bolts to the intake.

 

Must people gentle scrape and pick it out.

 

A Google search will turn up more methods but scrapping and picking appears the best method.

 

Make sure you also check the steel exhaust gas tube for plugging.
