i have a 92 camry and sometimes in the rain the power steering goes like the belt snapped off. after a while it comes back as normal. the belts are good and theres plenty of fluid. what could be the problem?

i cant see the relation between the rain and your power steering system..unless your belt is getting wet, but you said that the belt isgood...you got me stumped on this one...

Belt tension? Glazed pulley? Something is losing grip when wet, I'd guess. I'd look at those belts too.

make sure the belts are good on both sides and that they have sufficient tension. Typically the only correlation that can be derrived from water causing the failure of some mechanical device run by belts is not enough tension causing the belt to slip, or the fact that the grooves in the belt are broken/cracked which would normally be okay, but when wet definately would slip.
