Questions regarding 2005 V6 Camry
I'm considering buying my ex-girlfriend's 2005 Camry SE V6 A/T and was hoping you Camry experts could answer some questions for me (the car has 30,000 miles and is immaculate).
-What kind of Highway MPG do these get at around 80 mph?
-Any common issues/problems with these?
-Any bad things regarding these V6's? (I'd get the 4 cyl if I had the choice)
-Now that it's at 30k miles, are there any expensive maintenance items that I should expect within the next 100k miles? (Timingbelt, etc)
I really like her car except I'm concerned that it has a V6 (obviously good fuelmileage is important to me).
Thx all for your time, Grant

If it's the 3.0L V6, it's a good engine. The 4 cylinder had a few problems.
The Toyotanation website would have posts from members about issues they are trying to solve with these cars. Look under sections for the make and year of car. Plus members whom actually own the year/engine of car.
The recommended belt change is 90K.
Suggest changing the trans fluid at least by 80K, 40-50K is better. Inspect it, should be red, not dark or black. Clean fluid goes a long way toward extending trans life.
Same for the power steering fluid.

Don't know much about the 3.3L.
It was used between 03 and 09 on various models. Does not appear to have any issues.
If the model engine in the Camry has variable valve train timing (VVT-i) the engine is interference.
Timing belt change appears to be much more time consuming then the other engines thus more expensive.

Ask about all of this at the Toyotanation website. Someone may know cost to replace the belt on this engine.
Also do a Google search on the engine type and find out what other models use it, the inquiry there.
