Default For 1987 Camry Need AC Conversion Kit For 134a

Hi,

I have a 1987 Toyota Camry Wagoon, 4 cyl.

My repair person is going to change in the AC from the old Freon to new 134a Freon. I need a get a conversion kit.

The standard "one-size fits all" might not work. I need a conversion that will work for my 1987 Camry.

Could anyone suggest what to buy?

Thanks

What are the reasons for changing over?

If the current system was working OK or can be repaired and not leak. It might be cheaper and easier to buy old stock R12 on internet. Its still available and not illegal to use it.

If you repair person is certified to work on AC systems they can legally sign off on any forms to buy it.

Doubt you will find all the right parts given the cars age.

Best action may be to flush the current system of oil. Change the dryer and high/low fittings to R134A. Then use R134A. The A/C output may be less and last as long but the process is cheap, easy and doable.

There are other R12 substitutes which appear to work well enough.
