Default 1989 camry wont start sometimes

89 camry sometimes and only sometimes it wont start ? i then put it in neural and shift it back and forth threw the gears AND THEN BAM it starts and drives fine wtf.
this only happens when it first starts and its cold not when warm, i think it is a sensor but what one ?
also it could be anything the car has over 300,000 on it
thanks

There is, typically, a sensor that won't allow the car to start if the gear selector is not in park or neutral. I'm not sure about the details though like what it is called or where it is located.
