Question 1992 Camry 2.2 Manual Trans Problem

Hey everyone. Im new to the forums.. I have a 1992 Camry 2.2 with the 5spd manual trans. A few weeks ago it started popping out of 5th gear. If I don't physically hold it in gear, it will randomly (violently) disengage. Im assuming a bearing let go because it had bad slop in 5th and in 3rd. I didn't see anything to adjust really and can't find hard parts for a trans rebuild. Am I just going to have to replace the trans? Car has 231k on the odo - not sure if its the original trans or not, but it probably is.

Thanks for any help or direction!

check your engine mounts while looking around under the bonnet

if it is a syncro .... might be best to swap the box out for another

should be an E5 series manual gearbox this is the gearbox parts list

Sounds like a syncro to me. Requires transmission rebuild.
