Default 1992 wiper issue

Hey Y'all,

My camry has a wiper issue. The drivers side wiper is normal at bottom of windshield when off, however when they are on, it only goes up 3/4 of the way and not all the way up. If I adjust so it will, then it stops a couple inches from the bottom. It is like it is not making the normal turn or revolution. The passenger side wper stays just a bit lower than bottom of windshield but is almost normal. If the 2 are connected somehow, how can it be the drivers side is the one messed up, and what could this be?

I appreciate any advice and suggestions as always. We haven't had rain in Georgia in so long, that it hasn't been a big problem yet.

The cowl louver where the wiper shafts come out can be removed. Once removed the wiper mechanism can be viewed for problems.

Most likely an issue with a worn bushing the connects the push/pull arm between the two wiper shafts.

tHANKS jOEY!

Does this mean if I buy a transmission assembly like I have seen on ebay, or even get one from a junker that might solve the problem? From the pics on ebay, it seems the transmission thingy is the parts you are speaking of.

Yes, see link below:

WIPER LINKAGE & MOTOR ASSEMBLY CAMRY 92 93 94 95 96 | eBay

The ebay item has all of the mechanical parts for the motor/linkage (transmission), you will be replacing everything under the hood and cowl.

In the photo the electric motor is black with a gold arm. The wiper trans (linkage) are the long gold colored rods. The farthest end of the gold arm on the motor connects to a socket on the end of the linkage show in the far left side of the photo.

If one wiper is working OK, but the other is not the issue may be the linkage end connects or the wiper drive shaft bearing rather then the motor. If you remove the cowl you can operate the wiper and determine what the problem is.
