1994 camry xle 4c oil leaks
#2
Worst case is the oil pump seal. Oil pump is under timing cover on side of engine closest to firewall.
Safely raise and support passengers side or car, state engine and watch area under the timing cover including the edges. Look for dripping oil that occurs only when the engine is running.
If this is the problem the labor cost will be about the same as changing a timing belt, plus oil pump. $400 or more at the dealer plus parts. Less at a third party shop.
Other areas of leakage are valve cover gasket area on back of engine, distributor seals, cam and crankshaft oil seal, sometimes the O'ring between the oil cooler mount and block.
Make sure the oil is engine oil and not trans fluid (thinner and red). Trans fluid is used in the trans, diff and PS.
