Default 1999 start up rattle

i have a 1999 camry 4 banger that makes a noise like it has no oil when starting. this happens every time the car has sat for about 15 minutes or more. i changed the oil filter and it was totally dry inside. apparently the oil is draining back while sitting. any cure for this? the car had a WIX filter and i changed to a PureOne whith no change in noise. other than this issue, car runs perfect.

Any possibility of a clogged oil intake screen.

at this point, i can't rule out anything, but i would think a clogged oil pump screen would cause low oil pressure all the time. this one acts as if the oil pressure bleeds off while sitting. 2 seconds of rattle at startup and all is well...

How about engine sludge? Remove the valve cover to take a look.

looks very clean under valve cover. i'm thinking its a loose rod bearing clearance or something deep...
