Hey guys im new here trying to figure out whats going on with my moms 2002 camry. The car has maybe 60,000 miles on it, not sure, have to check.

I personally havent experienced the problem, and we are a fairly mechanically inclined family with a couple of high hp turbo supras built in our garage but cannot figure out the problem... but here is what my brother and dad tell me after driving the car... It seems fine shifting 1-2, but when it goes to shifting to 3rd gear, especially when the trans is still cold, it has a very violent knock/shaking, it does this too when it downshifts from 4th sometimes.. What could it be? i tried searching the entire forum and the only thing i came up with was that the year trans had a problem and a trans computer upgrade of some sort fixed it?

any help would be appreciated.

Could the shaking be a shutter?

There was an issue with trans shutter.

Might review posts at the Toyotanation website.

What condition is the trans fluid?
