Default 2002 Camry VVT Code

Hello - I have a 2002 Camry, 4 Cyl 211k miules. Head gasket replaced at ~ 205k miles.

Am getting a P1346 code - VVT sensor/camshaft position sensor circuit problem.

Have replaced the camshaft position sensor and oil control solenoid but still receiving 1346 code.

Car is running fine - no noticeable issues other than the code.

So concern is now to the timing chain - but with no noticeable issues I'm reluctant to do too much there as I have little experience in that area.

Any advice appreciated.

Regards,

Jackwagon

Could be stretched chain.

Cam timing off with chain.

Thanks for the reply - could that condition be correct thru an adjustment of chain tension?

Can't correct a mechanical timing issue or stretched chain by more tension.

Suppose if the chain is too loose (worn tensioner) there could be issues.

See link if engine has an oil filter screen for VVTi. If so check screen for sludge, debris as this can also cause code.

Does the 2AZFE have a OCV / VVT filter and where is it? (thoughts) - GenVibe - Community for Pontiac Vibe Enthusiasts

Thanks for the second reply. Seems the filter is hard to locate. There is a bolt head just below and perpendicular to the OCV - but this is easily located and from the link provided must not be the filter location.
