2003 Camry Accessory Belt
Can someone direct me for the replacement procedure for the serpertine belt on the 4 cyl? My Ford trucks have a square 1.2" hole in the idler bracket to insert a breaker bar toleverage tension off the belt. Can't seem to find a similar accomodation on the Camry. Is the procedure different?
After messing with removing the old belt for about an hour, (I couldn't getsufficient leverage on the breaker bar with one hand so that I could work the old belt off the pulley with the other), so I took it to a local shop. It took two mechanics 45 minutes to replace the belt, and it took both of them to leverage and remove the belt. They must have checked the new belt 3 times to make sure it was the correct one, but both the old and new were the same. It has been running ok for about a month on the new belt now, so all is well. They charged me $20, which works out to about $13/hour.

See page 14-5. It appears the belt tensioner turns to tighten/loosen.

Actually, the tensioner pivots as indicated in step 7 and 8, so the tensioner is working ccw as you attempt to move it cw enoughand simutaneously attempt toslip the belt off the pulleys. Since it's a Japanese document drive bolt = drive belt. Thanks for the link, there's some good info in there.
