Question 2007 Camry with 175,000 miles

I am new to this forum so please bear with me. I am strongly considering buying a 2007 Camry with 175,000 miles. I know very little about cars but I do know that it starts and drives beautifully. It has a clean carfax. What should I be asking given the mileage? I am worried about the transmission going, an engine rebuild, etc. Any guidance would be helpful!

for the 2007 car its spot on average usage at almost 20,000 miles per year

before buying a 4 cyl or V6 manual or automatic.. the same rules apply

have the car checked over by a reputable un biased vehicle inspection service
must have full service history
if engine uses a timing belt need to know by receipt/records when it was changed

for a market price in your local area
just to see what others expect to get
have a look for the same year 2007 camry in all car sales advertisements

a car yard or dealer price offering a warranty will be higher than a private seller

V6 or 4 cylinder? The 4 cylinder had a few major issues one being excessive oil burning.

Find out if the trans fluid was ever changed which lack of is the No 1 cause of trans failure. Also what repairs were done. With this many miles there is bound to be repairs done or needing to be done as parts were out. Nothing major but cost can add up if not doing your own maintenance.

Edmonds.com for used cars will give trade in, private sale, etc prices based on a host of factors including zip code. With this check Craigslist for locale prices.

With this many miles, if a 4 cylinder and unknown maintenance would be trying to get the price as low as possible or pass on the deal and I do my own work.

I agree with Joey.
I own an '07 4 cylinder with a manual transmission. I bought the car with 117K and it now has 161K.
I have replaced the following:
waterpump
front brakes/rotors
From there it is just the basic maintenance:
filters, belts, plugs, etc.
My car does consume oil, I add about a quart at the 2500-3500 mile mark. Far from Toyota's demands for covering warranty.
A good gauge to know if someone has done all the proper upkeep on a car (in my opinion) is to pull out the cabin air filter. If it's never been changed then you know it is going to need some basic tune up stuff.
If the price is right and it looks good to go, then I say get it. I love mine! Great on gas, does everything I need it to. I did put aftermarket fog lights on it and I did a headlight bulb conversion as I thought the H11's were not bright enough.
