Default 2012 Camry Flex Lock Issue (Torque Converter)

I have a 2012 Camry V6 with the 6 speed automatic transmission. It has 152K miles on it and just started exhibiting symptoms of the flex lock issue (shudder when the transmission is changing gears... typically in the 40 to 50mph range for me).
- Dealer told me the TSB and warranty extension only apples to the 4 cylinder and doesn't apply to the V6 (anybody else been told this)... not that it matter much because I'm at 152K
- Anybody else have this issue on the V6? Have you had it repaired (did they replaced torque converter?... did it fix the issue?) I've read some posts where folks had the software update, didn't fix the issue, then had the TC replaced and it still didn't fix the issue...I'd hate to spend $2K and still have the issue
- If anyone has paid for the TC to be replaced out of warranty, how much did they charge? I see a new OEM TC can be bought from online Toyota dealers for ~$900 and the TSB says 5.6hours of labor (so I'm expecting around $1700... but I've been quoted a lot more... curious what other folks have experienced)
- Been looking online for procedure to replace the TC, but find nothing. Anyone found online repair

Thx in advance for any info folks have.

Might check for any reports at the Toyotanation.com site. More members more opportunities for input. The trans was used for a few years in Avalon, Highlander and Sienna.

The wrong type of trans fluid can cause shudder.

Read the info on this trans and TCC shudder at the link below

For $20 you can download service info from Toyota corp at techinfo.toyota.com for 2 days.

Default 2012 Toyota Camry LE Transmission (U760E) Shudder

I have this problem with my car. I have the U760E transmission your car I believe has the U660E/F. From online research the transmissions are the same just set up for the 6 cylinder engine. If you read my post titled 2012 Toyota U760E Transmission Shudder ALL TOYOTA OWNERS READ you will see what my I think is going on with U760E/F and U660E/F. I think this transmission shudder affects millions of Toyota's. I also believe that this transmission is faulty and not reliable. You should no longer expect quality and reliability from Toyota as all new Toyota owners are finding out or will soon find out. Anyone who has bought a 2010 or later Toyota is in for a wake up call.

Please reply back to the current status of your Camry. Update the issue and post current mileage. Please also post dates and times of repairs and amounts spent.

Live free or buy a new Toyota!
