Default '92 Camry- cranks- No Start

1992 Camry-4 cyl- cranks - but no start- Before today, the car always started and there were no issues. No stalling, hesitation, etc- just worked fine.
Any suggestions on what to look at before I bring to a mechanic?

Coincidence or not, yesterday I sprayed a light undercoating on the fire wall- brake line, etc- Fluid film-similar to wd 40 but thicker- could this be an issue- The only overspray I could see was on the throttle cable.

Thanks

cranks but, will not start is usually a timing belt or spark issue. take your distributor cap off and see if it turns if it does then your t belt is likely not broken. is it possiable you sprayed the distributor area.

yep. check if theres a spark, remove a wire and ground a plug then crank, no spark, you probably fried the distributor. ive done the same with a drunken engine shampoo. never drink and wash

These forum threads are indexed by search engines & will lead people to old threads like this.

When the topic is of a technical nature, I don't see any harm in "bumping" old threads if the new post adds helpful information to the topic. Just because the OP's issue has been solved, doesn't mean that others won't end up here with the same question. And there are a lot more things that can cause a car to crank, but not start.

My mom has a 92 Camry and the other day she started it, backed up about 10 feet & it died suddenly, and wouldn't re-start.

It turned out that a seal was bad & the distributor was full of oil, grounding out the spark. The shop it was towed to charged her $700 to fix it.. so I told her I'd fix a concurrent, but unrelated rear brake & RR hub/bearing issue myself to save her some $$$. And I found this site via another ancient thread that came up in a Google search when I was looking for the torque spec for the 4 bolts that hold the hub assembly on.
