96 Camry - low idle/stalls. P0401
Hello everyone. I bought this 96 Camry a few months ago - it had a missfire and a P0304 code which I traced to a broken seal on no 4 fuel injector which caused a massive vacuum leak. I fixed it by changing all the injector seals and sure enough the check engine light turned off.
However, since then the car has idled at a very low speed 300-400 and will often stall. When I start it, the engine runs for a second or two then dies. The only way I can keep it running is by keeping my foot on the accelerator for a minute or two, slowly coming off until the idle settles at around the 400 RPM mark. Now the check engine light came back on - this time with a P0401 code - exhaust EGR flow insufficient.
The EGR valve and VSV both seem to check out when I test them. I attached my vacuum tester to port Q on the EGR modulator. With the engine revving around 2500-3000 RPM there was no movement of the needle. I understand this means the EGR modulator is not working (according to one you tube video). So I ordered a new EGR modular - I suppose I should just wait for it to arrive and see if it works, but is this likely to fix the low idle problem? I already cleaned the IAC a month ago.....
Thanks
