Default 97 camry tranny

Looks like the old girl had enough. My camry is a 4cyl. auto.I was wondering what years a140e trannies are interchangable and if theres any differences in the 97s themselves. I have a line on a used one w/86000 miles for $450. Im contemplating the swap myself but seems these types of things always happen in the winter and my garage is tied up right now.Irecall the pass side cv shaft being a bear to get out from the last time when it was siezed in the carrier bearing. The car has 220000 miles but ive replaced alot on it and feel its worth replacing as it still runs like new and I dont like car payments. Any opinions?

This trans was used from the 1st generation through the 4th. The early trans (around 1990ish) were hydraulic shift controlled then later ECU. If you can find one about the same year you should be OK.

When you install the CV joint use some anti-seize compound on the bearing and housing.

No sense buying something else in unknown condition when you can fix this car pretty cheaply.

Mine also uses the same transmission.
