Ac systems can be tricky. They sometimes just need a recharge and there fine agian. Which could be your case. Or it could be something more serious.
Bad compressor, Condensor, Those could also cost a pretty pennie.Maybe a slight leak?
Im not really sure what the problem is. Does the fan blow high low ect? Do you have just the ac on? or ac and recycle mode?Is the temp on cold?
My advice is take it to a mechanic who you trust. If you dont know any, shop around. Take it to one place. See what they say. Then take it to another place. See what they say. Compair prices ect.
I say be careful because some mechanics will rip you off. Specially for ac jobs.

05cam is right about some ac mechanics ripping u off ... just be carefull who will do the job 4 u .. try 2 find some 1 u trust .. ask ur friends or any others that have a good mechanic..

what i did to my 1996 camry regarding the acas it was cooling fine but that id liked it to be more chillin >>>
1- discharged the gas & found it was only 450 grams.
2- vaccume & found no leak in it.
3- added the compressor oil.
4- re-charged new 134a gas till it got full at 750 grams.

& now am happy with the result & it cost me about $53.00 only

Note: between time to time just spry ur condinser with water as it might be blocked from dust or some dirt & u will feel the result.

it's located between the front grill & the radiator .. simplly wash it by pouring water or spraying it .. how u will know ... the air out frm AC will be cooler.
