Default Air filter clips on 1998 camry

Very basic qustion. My Chilton manual says that the airfilter cover is held in place by 4 clips which should be removed and hose disconnected to remove the cover. Only then air filter can be replaced. I only see 2 clips and don't see how to remove the cover without forcing it. Any pointers would be great. Thanks.

4 cylinder or V6?

Typically the other 2 clips would be on the opposite side. They would be hidden from sight if not looking for them.

You might be able to pull up on the top cover then pull out the filter.

On the I 4 the two closest to the fender are spring clips and the two on the engine side are actually part of the hinge that allows the cover to tilt up (once the hoses and sensor ae removed. Don't forget to re install the sensor.

This is for a 6 cylinder. Hope you guys don't kick me out :-) but it's actually for a es300. My Chilton manual is the same for Camry and ES300...same engine etc.

Thanks for responding. My scenario looks like your description. 2 spring clips easily removed near the fender. Other side there is a hinge. Man, so I have to remove the hoses and sensor? Wonder why my Chilton manual conveniently omits details and proper pics. Just says remove 4 clips, hose and replace. Wish the manual were more idiot-proof :-) Thank heavens for sites like this.
