Default Bad Starter? Celenoid?

Okay I just started dating this girl and never ever rode in her car until the other day and we sat in her car for about 5 minutes with her turning the key and trying to get it to turn over. I makes the click sound when she turns the key and that makes me think the celenoid in the starter is bad but I could be wrong. How can I test if it is the starter motor. And also I havent looked under her hood but where is it located? I am brand new to the Camry engine - I have a 2006 nissan truck so i'm new to this car.

If all you hear is a clicking noise, then the battery is dead. Jump it.

it is definately not the battery. Sometimes it goes on the first try other times the 20th try. It sounds like the starter is trying to go and when i hit the starter as she turns the key (say with a screwdriver or something) the car starts right up. How hard is the starter to remove and replace?

It's definitley the starter. If it comes to the point where you have to beat the **** out of it with a stick for the starter to actually engage, then its bad. I dont know how hard it is to remove and replace. It shouldnt be hard if you have basic automotive knowledge. What year is it and what engine does it have. If its a 2.2L then it should take all of about 5 min, not sure about a V6 though.

Okay she has the 4 banger model and the starter is easily accessible on the right side of the block. I see that the radiator hose is over top and I am wondering if I am going to have to remove this in order to get the starter out of the space?

If you can sneak it out you should do that. If you pull the hose then your just gonna have a big *** mess on your hands. Im not sure if your going to have to pull thoe hose off or not. Either way it should be pretty easy. Good luck.

Okay so I looked at the Starter and it says is a 1.2kw but my question is how do I know if she has the cold weather package or not. Does it matter which starter I put in or will that package(option) need that certain starter
