Cant open drivers door! Please Help!!!
Hi all! I have a 1996 Camry and im having a problem getting into the drivers door. First off, when i insert the key, it will only allow me to turn to the right (unlock doors). When this happens, all of the doors in the car unlock, even the drivers door. When i attempt to turn it to the left to lock the door, the lock seems frozen and will not allow to turn. When i press the interior electrical lock control button, the manual switch on the interior handle moves back and forth, signaling locking and unlocking of the door. When in the unlock position, the interior or exterior handles will not allow me to open the door and has rendered the door useless at the moment. I have check all fuses and they seem fine. One other thing, when i try to use the interior door handle and release it back into unpulled position, i hear a clicking sound near the door lock. I believe this "click" is also made when i operate the interior lock control button back and forth. Thanks for everyones time and hope one of you guys can help me out!
sounds like something disengaged from the external handle or jammed. you have to open the door panel and look at the mechanism. If you can't open the door at all, you have to reomve the interior handle cover and pull those rods with a plier and open the door.
