cant remove drivers half shaft from diff 95 camery
The axle shaft that slides into the differential housing has a spring clip at the end. This clip is what holds the shaft (and axle) into the diff carrier.
The shaft with the clip at the end slides into the hole in the diff carrier, then the clip expands when it comes out the other side of the carrier.
Pulling the shaft out can be difficult as the clip needs to compress before can be pulled through the hole in the diff carrier.
Suggest instead of pulling the axle you try to "pop" it it out, jerk it out rapidly. Try a well positioned pry bar between the inner joint and trans case, then rapidly jerking the end of the bar in an attempt to pop out the joint. The inner CV joint may have slot(s) on the housing to allow the end of the bar to engage it.
Use a section of wood, etc between the bar and trans case to prevent damage to the case.
Don't pull on the axle or you will just pull the CV joint apart and not the joint out of the housing.
It may take many attempts at this but sooner or later the shaft will pop out.
Once the shaft is free, take care not to damage the diff housing seal when removing the old shaft and installing the new one. This can result in leakage.
To install the new shaft, face the opening in the clip downward. Apply a little grease to area to keep the clip from rotating. Line up and insert the shaft into the diff carrier (taking care not to damage the diff housing seal).
Once the shaft starts to go into the housing (the splines are lined up) give it a HARD!!, rapidly shove to pop it into place. You may have to repeat the process a few times.
Again don't damage the diff seal or you can end up a leak.

This is the drivers side, the short axle that does NOT have a carrier bearing (passengers side).
The design of outer body of CV joint has splined shaft that installs into the diff housing. If you have a replacement axle look at the splined area on the opposite side of the rubber boot.
