My 1994 camry has 246k miles on it. It runs great... but I think I need to take it to have some things checked. My brake light has a short and comes on every now and then, and my doors randomly unlock while I'm driving. The latter is due to an accident a while ago... I think I know what that is.

Oil changes have been done every 3k. What type of things should I be looking into? I'm going to call the dealer and ask them what I should be checking and gather some info from them... then probably go to my local mechanic and ask them to do what I need to check... I just want to do some research so I have a clue what I'm talking about

 

For the door locks check the door switches. The wiring between the drivers door and chassis can fray and cause lock issues.

Make sure the fluids are in good condition, trans, coolant and PS.

If you are up to you can flush out the brake system with new fluid.

Check the heater and radiator hoses for leaks, the upper radiator tank (plastic) for crackng and small leaks.

 

Thanks. My engine light has also come on 4 times... and part of that time my O/D light blinks... which signals an electrical problem in the transmission from what the manual says. I need to check on that too. Problem is, the check engine light goes off after a day or two.
