Default Car has no power until 25mph? BAD hesitation

Hello I am new on the forums and having trouble with my car and hoping somebody has ran into the same problem or can help me out. I bought a 1995 camry 4cyl off a friend that needed money and was moving. The problem is it has little no power until you get to 25 mph then it will just catch and run fine. The car doesn't have any funny engine sounds and revs real nice in park without even missing but as soon as I put it in gear it just hesitates horribly. I have replaced the plugs and wires and still no change. Also there is no check engine light on (I wish there was dumb obd1) any ideas?

Also forgot to add when I got the car the air tube was broken completely right at the throttle body. Maybe it sucked in a bunch of junk from no air filter?

Tube cracking around the throttle body is common. Was the tube still butted up against the section on the throttle body, if so no much could enter through the crack. For a temp fix apply electrical or duct tape around the crack area, then install clamp.

The car does have an built in ODB system but not all systems are monitored.

Describe no power. Engine RPM revs up but car does not accelerate until MPH picks as if trans is stuck in a high gear?

Engine bucks, misses, etc?

Try manually putting the trans into Low gear and determine if the acceleration is better.

How is power at speeds over 25 MPH, does car have normal power going up hill, accelerating, misses, etc?

The intake tube is fixed is got a new one. It will take a good 15 seconds and won't go over 2000rmp then once it hits 25 it drives completely normal. I put it in the other gears besides drive and still the same thing.

Does the transmission shift gears when accelerating to 25 mph?

Does the problem happen engine hot or cold?

Find an open area and try accelerating in reverse to compare with the forward gears. No need to go 25 mph, just compare 0 to say 5 mph acceleration.

Default Camry acceleration issue

Did you ever find a solution to your Camry problem? My 99's lack of acceleration sounds very similar - just trouble getting moving. Then everything is ok, no check engine light. Thanks, Dave

The timing belt jumped a little bit! Make sure your car is timed right.
