Put a breaker bar on the crank pulley and wedge it so it cant move, then just bump the engine over with a starter. I had to do this on my cousins 92 with a V6. If your working on a 2.2 you should be able to use the same technique.

If that pulley has never been off before it will be a major pain in your ***. Use anti seize compound when reinstalling.

If you're using an impact gun, then I'd suggest that you do the following:

set gun to tighten bolt (3 sec or more) - then set gun to loosen (5 sec or more). Repeat it until it comes out. If it's first time then it'll be a while.

Tighten-loosen-tighten-loosen.....repeat until it comes out. Check up on the little dot/mark on the bolt head for any progress.

Getting the crank pulley bolt out is one thing, but getting the pulley itself out is another pain. Unless you're lucky that it'll just slide out. =)

see now I disagree with that, rebuking folks who respond to old unanswered posts. A Google search brought me here and I thought it was a useful tip!
