CV Axle OEM vs. After Market 2006 Camry
Hi all! I have a 2006 Camry 2.4/automatic LE 165k miles. Well my right front CV Axle is shot and needs replaced. I have been pricing it out and looks like my dealership is asking 750$ (American) for the part #4341006221. I have looked around at other places and the cheapest I could find an OEM was 500$ + shipping. I had thought about remans, but too many bad experiences have lead me away from this idea. I have also been investigating aftermarket parts, many come with a lifetime warranty, the prices vary from 50 to 200$ for their part.
My questions are who supplies Toyota with their CV Axles and can we buy them as consumers wo/ going through the dealership/Toyota and paying the huge markup. If that isn't possible, is there a place to get OEM for cheaper than 500$? If that is not possible, what aftermarket brand is as close to OEM as I can get?
I intend to keep this vehicle for a while and although the OEM original has held up for this long, I do not feel like the cost of the OEM part in this situation is justified being that it is well around a 700% markup and Aftermarkets seem to be no higher than 200 and many are in or around 100$. Please advise.
