Just purchased a 1998 Camry LE with less than 30K on the clock from a local grandma. Everything seems to work well but the fan for the A/C Heat is very loud at the high speed setting. Any guesses as to the cause? More importantly what is the repair and is it one that can be done at home? Anything else that should be replaced while I am in that particular area?

 

How loud is loud? Is this air noise, squealing bearing, grinding, something stuck in the fan?

The blower unit can be removed fairly easily if required, once out it can be taken apart to access the fan and motor.

 

If it's just a loud noise from air blowing check to see if you have it on recirculation. I find that selection to be louder than outside air setting.
