I always felt that Toyota was the last of the good stuff but I'm beginning to wonder.
Have you tried switching to 5-30? M1 High Mileage 5-30 is good stuff. Worth running that for an OCI and see what you see.

Can anyone actually vouch for using the 5w-30? Full synthetic or blend? Brand?
My car does not use enough oil for the warranty but it does use some oil and I'm curious about this.

Patonium -

I have not yet changed over to 5-30 on mine, as once I fixed my gasket on the oil cap my consumption became pretty "normal" (as in I stopped worrying about it.) However, when I finally get the car fixed I plan on swapping over to Mobil 1 High Mileage 5-30 to run a comparison test against. Hard core mechanics that are spot on with just about everything I have seen on other forums have sworn this approach works well on their 2AZ-FE engines.

Thanks DIY, I'll keep this in mind. My car is about 5k from hitting the 150k mark so I will be out of warranty range soon.
