Default Going on a road trip... need advice

Hi, I own a 95 camry am getting ready to take a road trip up to New Jersey from Tampa, Florida because I have a new job there. The trip is about 15 hours and the longest I have ever taken in this care is 6hrs. I was told by some people that before I go I should change my oil from my usual 10w30 to something of a 15w30 or 15w40. Should I do this, I was told it is better for long road trips. Any other advice I should take into consideration? Please Help. Oh, I also have a valve guide seal problem (smokes a little on cold start up) I was told this was not a big deal from other camry forums and that many people have the same problem. I was told that the thicker oil would be better for this problem as well. Any advice you can give will be helpful. Other than that, the car is in great working order.

Keep an eye on your oil consumption. If you use more than a quart of oil in 3000 mi you may want to get taken care of . The cost will be just for the seal replacement a bout $400-600. depending .Most 2.2l Camrys will smoke a little. Try Valvolines Max-Life 10 W 30 oil .It has an additive that reduces oil consumption and helps oil passing by seals.

Gool Luck
Iggy
