Is the nut screwed onto a stub screwed into the manifold?

These nuts are hard to remove. Just unscrewing them on the stud once loose can be difficult.

If you know someone with a welding torch heat the nut red hot to break it free from the stud.

Default Recived New Header Pipe

I received the new header pipe from Rock Auto and the gaskets. The flex pipe, cat and pipe appear in good condition considering how it was packaged.

Rock Auto always ships well or whoever ships their product but this time the header pipe which has the flex pipe and cat was just placed in a thin box and not stabilized so it would not move around. By the time it reached me the box was beat up and a softball hole at the top where one of the exhaust manifold pipes popped open.

Took pictures and calling Rock Auto just in case.

Always a good idea with a damaged package.

Those shipping people can use packages are hockey pucks and all that bouncing on the truck can cause damage.

I just finished removing the header pipe (flex pipes rusted)and installing the new one. Car is nice and quiet.
Comments:
1. Purchased a walker header pipe (Walker 50448 with walkergaskets) from Rock Auto which fit perfect. The box it was delivered in wasdamaged but header pipe in tack. Called Rock Auto just so they have a record ofit in case of issues.

2. Cut the nuts off on the exhaust flange since there washeavy rust. The flange is at the back end of the header pipe (Dremel toolcutter).
4. Ground and trimmed one side of a nut I could not removeon a pipe connected to the manifold. Once the side of the nut was weak, used apunch to break open the nut. Just be careful with the threads. Did not have atorch and nutcracker would not fit in the small area. I did not want to break thebolt connected to manifold. That would not be good.
5. Was able to purchase OEM nuts and bolts from a dealer ata reasonable cost.
6. Tightened up bolts last night but not torqued since I wasoutside, dark and was raining heavily. I will torque the bolts when it warms up
7. The manifold bolts are connected with a nut and bolt butbolt has a female torx head for three of the bolts except one. Sometimes thenut would come off or the nut with the bolt.
8. Will show pictures if I have a chance. Will try and sellheader pipe since still in good condition, except flex pipes and has a catwhich appears to have been replaced at some time. Not sure what I can get forit.
