Default Heavy Trunk Lid

My'99trunk lid is very heavy. It stays in place when opened all the way up but as you lower it it gets dangerously heavy and slams unless you hold on tight! I went to a salvage yard and got trunk springs off of a perfectly working 99 and installed them. Worked just as badly. What else could be causing the trunk to be so heavy? I have no modifications in my trunk, only a factory spoiler, which is lightweight.

I need some help and answers, if anyone on here can help. Thanks........from my wife!

on the left and right sides of the hinges, there are hook like pieces of metal .. then you will see 3 holes which one of the hooks is in. this case, yours is probably placed onhole 3(least resistance)- there's alsohole 2 (med resistance) and hole 1 which hasa whole lot of it. Move it to the 2nd or 1st holes and see if this works. Good LucK!

you could take out the trunk liner if you have it.
