Default Help w/I.D. device

I purchased an old `08 Camry. The car has after-market rr view mirror and this device. I don't know what it is, it is attached to the windshield next to the rr view mirror. Could it be a transponder thing for Fast Track? or part of the rearview backup camera system? or super duper sunglass holder?
Thanks,
Paul

Don't know.

Any wires or cables going to it? Fast track typically has their name on the box.

Hard wired radar detector? GPS antenna for aftermarket head unit?
I have no idea. Did you buy the car from a dealer? Did they know?
They might also help you find the previous owner and you might be able to ask them.

It does have wires going to or from the rr view mirror. Thus from my educated guess, is the electronics for backup sensors from the camera and/or the auto dimming feature of the mirror and possibly also the electronic compass.
In any case, I could not find the opening to it to see why my mirror does not have auto-dimming or compass or rear view from the back up camera.
Thanks for trying.

Did you buy this car from a dealer? I would follow up with them and like wise if it was a private sale.
I'm pretty curious what that is as well!

Maybe has something to do with those devices that the ins companies install in your car to track your driving but you get a better rate......not likely but possible. I think those usually go in the glovebox

I bought this car from a used car dealership. I don't think they would help very much, since I called them 2 days after I received possession of the car because the front pass. side wheel liner was loose. All I needed was one grommet to affix it but they didn't return my call until 7 days later, by which, I already fixed it myself!
The more I researched the more I think it is the electronics (receiver end) for the after-market rr view mirror, which may have compass, dimming and rr view from camera. Just that I have not found the exact one but close (Auto-Vox, Parking Assist System.

Does your mirror auto dim? Is there a compass? There should be a model number somewhere on the unit or mirror.
