I have a 96 Camry V6 Automatic and I have replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor that goes down into the top of the trans and I'm wondering how many trans sensors are there on this Camry. I was told that there is also one with part number 090-5021 Transmission Revolution Sensor by the folks at O'Reillys. I can't really find out any info about it on the web, like where it's located on the car or even if it really goes on my Camry. I am chasing a issue of when I am driving along the engine rpm's will just go up to like 4000 and then you let off the gas and it settles back down to a normal rpm as before. The trans does shift a little hard sometimes but nothing really bad. It seems worse if the OD is engaged. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

Do you have a photo or link to the sensor you replaced?

The manual references up to 3 sensors however this changed with year of trans.
