Installed battery backwards on 99 camry v6. Help!
Hi. My name is Michael and I am a new member to this forum.
Long story short I sent my brother to buy a used battery at advance auto parts store and they gave him one that is same cranking amps but the positive and negatives are on opposite sides. He installed it backwards without realizing it and sparks were flying.
I inspected the car and a few electronic components does not work. Radio, power seats and windows, climate control, dash lights, brake lights, tail lights, sunroof, wipers, and the car doesn't shift out of park unless I press on the shift lock release. I inspected the fuses and my 100A alternator fuse blew and my a/c fuse blew. But all the other fuses looked ok? I'm stump on where to look next. I'm an amateur when it comes to electrical components of a car, i'm more of a mechanical guy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance

I hate to say this, but you will be better off giving it to a pro shop. EVERYTHING can be toast, including ECM. Combined repair is prolly more than car worth itself.
Of course, it can also be the first after battery fusible link, but considering fuses blown all over, and half car not working - I seriously doubt.
You may want to hassle with finding a residential service electrician off craigslist, maybe 2, to have estimate on repair. Or, sell her AI, and invest into a different vehicle.
Good luck.

figured out the problem could be from an inline fuse to the alternator from all the other post i was reading. problem is i don't know where that is at or where it is located. Can someone point me to the right direction?

Does the engine run?
The fuse may be near the battery terminal, someone else had this problem do a history search.
Have you checked the fuses behind the far drivers side ash tray/coin box on the lower dash?

Yes the car does start and drive. Just the electronic does not work. I've checked the fuses there also and they were all fine. I've read a similar problem with a 2000 echo and he claims that an inline fuse to the alternator was the culprit. I've been searching for this fuse everywhere and do not know where to find it! i will do a history search though thanks for the post.
