lamp failure sensor probs

Default lamp failure sensor probs

anyone know why a lamp failure sensor on camry 93 4cyl keeps on frying up, mine fried up and i went to the junk yard for a replacement, cost about $7 bucks, but when i plug it in, it smoked, so i guess it fries, i'm guessing a short but thats not my domain anymore, anyone,?? suggestion please......????

When replacing bulbs you need to make sure to change with same amperage draw. Other than downstream shorted wire drawing too much current through sensor, improper bulbs can do the same thing. Last I looked Phillips website gives bulb numbers with amp rating.

Check the LIght Green, Green/Red and Red wires coming out of the sensor box for shorts.
