Default Need Help On Changing Water Pump

I have a 1990 4 cyl Toyota Camry and I'm replacing the Water pump. I have done this before but I just wanted to ask if I need to take the water pump housing off to change the O rings. It only leaked on the pump not on the housing plus I have changed this water pump and replaced the o rings on the housing 4 years ago. I guess the water pump I got was defective since it only lasted 4 years.

Thanks for you help in advance.

Just have a good and original part in the future. That would be the fine solution that you could only have in order to make your water pump work well in the long run. I just hope that everything is well now, provided that you will make some actions here!

I am sure it is possible although never done it this way. One issue is how easy the pump comes off the housing, if easy and not needing to bang things around there is less chance of disturbing the O'rings.

If all the seals were in the box already I would replace everything, why take a chance of leaks given the amount of labor to get to the pump.

Suggest staying away from rebuilt pumps, pay a little more for something like Bosch, AISIN, BECK/ARNLEY, etc.

Very rare for a pump to leak but happens.
