Default Oil is above the full line

I had my oil changed (I obviously will not go back to that particular mechanic again, I usually do it myself), and the dipstick now reads 3/4 inch above the full line. I already drove it 12 miles back home. Is this dangerous for the engine, should I let some oil drain out? Camry 98.

Would say its OK. Have driving this engine with higher oil levels and all was good.

The oil would need to get pretty high to reach the crank to become whipped up as the balance shafts are below the crank.

When driving check for blue smoke and after driving check the dipstick for foamed oil.

Great, thank you for the answer! I was worried about the oil reaching the crank.

I know that too much oil is never good. I would google the subject as this is not only specific to Camry issue. There should be information about the topic. I am not exactly sure why that is but I know it is not good for the engine. At one time I've put in one extra oil by mistake doing oil change and I had to remove oil because I know too much oil is not good. I cannot remember what I did to remove exactly a quart of oil though.... It will not be an easy thing. If you have someone paid to cause this, I would go back to that person to remove extraneous oil from your engine. I think having too much oil means lot more work for the engine for one. Good luck.
