Default oil pump issues!

Can anyone help me confirm this part of my oil pump on this 89 came I have is broken. It appears there is score marks on the face of the silver plate inside . My guess something cut out a piece of the oil pump housing or is this a broken part behind the housing. I'm getting ready to put a new timing belt all oil seals and water.pump. do I need to pull off the oil pump housing

Related to your PM's what did you find out about the squealing? Is the engine otherwise OK and not seizing up?

The marks may be caused by debris in the oil. The oil going to the pump is not filtered. Suggest also removing the oil pan and checking for debris plus the oil intake screen for debris, holes, etc.

The part in photos can be replaced as a unit which includes the oil pump. Check auto parts sites such as Rockauto (has pictures of the pump) and Partsgeek for the oil pump which includes the housing shown in the photo.

I figured out the problem. After taking apart the covers and removing the belt I checked for free play on the water pump pulley and the oil pump pulley. Turns out the oil pump pulley got seized up somehow. Upon further inspection I came to the conclusion that I either 1: I assembled the pulley and bolt incorrectly when I removed the small oil seal. Or 2: that flaring piece of better that once was attached to the oil pump body somehow jammed up against the other parts which caused it to seize up and in return kill the engine. As of now I have got a new oil pump on the way . I will update as soon as I get it all installed and up in running. It's rediculous the amount of parts you must remove form.the underside of the car just to pull off the oil pan to get the oil pump off. I hope I don't have to do this again in the future .
