Default Overheating

'93 Camry V-6 auto. Installed new radiator to replace one with blown seam. Now cap on radiator (not cap on engine) releases pressure way too early- like @ 7PSI. Tried different cap, Toyota cap, same thing. Figure radiator neck is at fault. I used aStant pressure tester to determine this with tester attached to engine fill neck. Attaching tester to radiator neck results in pressure released @ 7PSI.Any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: Overheating

what do you mean by releases pressure at 7psi? If you pump it up to 15lbs does it just drop down slowly to 7psi then stop or does it do it quickly? Will your tool not allow you to pump it up past 7lbs at all? If both the new cap and new radiator are testing faulty the same exact way I would guess that to be a faulty tool. Try putting on a car with a known working cooling system and see what you get. If it's telling the truth and isn't faulty then I would just recheck all your connections, drive it till it reaches normal temperature then let it cool and recheck the levels in the rad. and over flow. If it isn't loosing any coolant and it's overheating then you probably need a new thermostat.

Good luck and don't forget to post back if you figure it out.
