I just bought a new set of tires for my 2007 camry and will rotate them every 5000 miles like I should. It would be nice if I could synchronize the oil changes with the tire rotating and use the oil change light to act as a reminder for both, but the next oil change mileage number is like 2000 miles away. Does anyone know how to fool the reminder light, so it doesn't come on until 5000 miles from now? From that point on, both jobs will be in sync.
How about if I change the oil in 2000 miles, on schedule, but leave the light on for another 3000 more and then reset it? All that would cost me is an extra oil change-can't hurt. Would that work?

 

Why don't you just do the oil change now and reset the light so it will come on at 5k miles.
