Default Security System

Need help (desperately) to disable this annoying thing.
There is no hidden button or switch, as in most cases.
Is this an original, factory installed system?
Any suggestions and comments on how I should go about
disabling it will be greatly appreciated.
(Yes, I checked with the local Toyota dealer; didn't know).

If the alarm is factory or dealer installed it is most likely a VIP RS3000 system. This system can be programmed using the master ign key and going through a complicated procedure.

Suggest you do a Google search on RS3000 as the programming directions should be out there to download. This unit was very common in its time.

If the unit is a third party look for a switch of some kind under the dash. This would be a reset switch. Typically these units mount in part under the steering column covers. In the case of an after market unit it might be best just to remove it.

The Toyota units are very good thus suggest you find the info and disarm or reprogram it.

Thank you, very useful info!
Yes, it seems to be a VIP RS300.
Unfortunately, the instructions refer to using the remote control, my car has none. If my car is not the remote kind, then how can I disable the alarm?
But if all cars were equipped with a remote, it's possible that mine got lost (not such rare thing to happen) by the previous owner. In that case, must be a way to program the unit manually, true?

Default Problem solved

I finally managed to disable my security system.
For those like me and who are still cursing, here is the procedure:

Step 1

Sit on the driver seat and leave the door open.
Within the next 10 seconds, insert the key in the ignition switch, turning it from LOCK to ON.
Repeat that 5 times and after the fifth, leave the key in ON position.
The horn will sound once and the red pilot light on dashboard will lit (solid).

Step 2

Within the next 30 seconds and still with the door open, turn the key back to LOCK position.
The horn will sound once. The light will blink rapidly a few times and then go off.
The system is now in Valet mode (disabled).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Important: The system will enable itself, if the car battery is disconnected.
