Default Stalling problem 2.2 4cyl 1992 camry

All,

Having a big problem in my Camry, need immediate assistance if possible...

Problem:
Driving on the highway, 40 minutes into the drive, constant speed, engine stalls out, all power still on, not responsive to giving it gas.

History:
Car was sitting for 2 years with starts often. Finally one day, the battery gave out and the car sat for months. I changed the battery, and tried to start it, it started with a sound like it was running off 3 cyl's. Shut down, spark tested, all cyl were fine. I changed the wires, plugs, cap. I changed the fuel filter, and wiggled the injector wiring. Put it all back together and it started right up! So I then drove it around, filled the tires with air, shut it down and same problem happened. I put injector cleaner in the tank and started it up, with my foot down on the pedal... it hesitated for about a minute then the 4th cyl came alive and the car ran perfect. I drove it up to my place at that point, which was 45 miles away. Noticed the fuel gauge is now inaccurate, which I can live with, never did anything about it. I have been driving the car since with minor issues, nothing big. The check engine light never came on, but it does light as I seen before I switch the key all the way to start. So now I have this problem where the motor just dies on the highway, it starts easy drives fine, but intermittantly it dies. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I read something about a coolant temp switch, can this be it? Coolant is clear and temp is normal when it happens. Fresh oil change recently, but problem was evident before.

Thanks in advance,
Shawn

Negative... though I've been reading around... something with the coolant temp switch is funky in these cars... if it happens again, I'm going to autozone and getting a new one... a 20 dollar gamble.

I think I got it figured out.... The other day the fuel pump was making grrr grr grrr noise... I just ordered a new one then I popped the tank open and waaalaaa, a tank full of rust. The pump was rusted, the fuel gauge sending unit was rusted... replaced so far without a hitch.

Hope this helps! Check your fuel pressure!
