Hi,

My Camry's exhaust leak has gotten substantially worse over the past couple months. 1st it leaked at the muffler/intermediary pipe flange, and then a couple days ago I noticed it was developing a loud noise from down by the exhaust manifold.

Today I noticed some hesitation, and then the check engine oil light came on, followed by the car stalling about 10 miles later.

I checked the oil, and the level was full.

I turned around and drove it home. 1st I heard a faint knock, then it got substantially worse. The car stalled a couple more times, and now the knock has gotten substantially louder and the car really doesn't want to start.

Could this be related to the exhaust problem? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The Camry is a 99 LE 4 cycl auto.

Use a section of hose as a stethoscope to narrow down the area of the knock.

A leaking exhaust can cause an issue with the cars emission system.

Have someone read the code(s) and post back.
