Default Temp Gauge help

On my 1992 Camry my temp gauge inside the car is stuck, or broken all the way down. I have replaced the thermostat, radiator and check all the fuses, my next step is tocheck or replace the coolant temp sensor. So my question is, is it thegauge orcoolanttemp sensor?

Try taking out the gauge cluster our and see if the needle is stuck. If its not that you could always get a temp gauge at pepboys and have it in your a pillar it will look nice

Gauge sensor. Determine if the wire is connected to the sensor.

I looked at the sensor last night and cleaned it off with some air. Maybe i was looking at the wring sensor, there are 3 sensor's below the distributor cap and i was looking at the middle one, is that the right one?

I believe the middle one is your coolant temp gauge sender, it'll have one wire going to it. The ECT sensor (on the left) has two wires going to itand the one on the right should have vacuum lines to it.

yeah the middle one is the ECT sensor, and I fixed the problem, it was the temp sending unit, not the sensor. I bought the sending unit at AutoZone for $10, wrapped some Teflon tape around it, andnow everything works perfectly. Thanks guys....

If you have a ohm meter check resistance ground. First disconnect the leed on the sending unit. One lead to ground other on send unit. Note value start engine and warm it up recheck value should change. Sorry i don't have the values. The way it usually works as the temperture changes resistance value changes. On some cars by grouding the sending unit with the key on the meter will peg one way or the other. If I had the wiring diagram I could the right answer.
