My sister has a 2006 CE Model 5 Speed Manual. On Sunday her car stuttered while cruising 35MPH and the steering wheel locked, she pulled over and restarted the car. After the restart, the car through a CEL. The car then started to shake while idling and it would randomly go from 700-1500 RPM. The car would stall if trying to give it any gas.

The car was towed to Toyota this morning where they diagnosed the throttle body as being STUCK OPEN. They told my sister that the entire throttle body needed to replaced and they want to charge her $1500 for the whole ordeal.

Has this problem happened to anyone before? I tried searching but had no luck finding anything regarding this problem for the newer camrys. Is there perhaps a DIY on replacing the throttle body or can anyone point me in the right direction?
