Default Thump sound from brakes - 1995 Camry V6 LE

I have had a thumping sound from the brakes once in a long while and for some reason when I touch emergencies and pull handle back it goes away but while driving I think I hear a slightly grinding noise form rear.

Finally taking rear brakes apart to see what I find.

Background - About 02/18 203,000 I replaced backing plate, bearing, rebuilt calipers, new rotor pads, and emergency brakes.. I actually got a whole hub assembly from a Camry in Calif.(2) since my backing plate was rusted out and its integral to the brakes. It just doesn't protect the brakes from dust, rocks, etc. I rebuilt the hub new bearings, etc. Dealer cost, aftermarket was outrageous and none in Midwest since all rusted out.

Taking apart today - Now 230,000 Observations

1. Pads do not seem worn at all. They did seem a little greasy outside of pads
2. Emergency pads not worn.
3. Rotors not scored.
4. Emergency part of rotor not scored.
5. Did not use silicone grease for caliper pin. Boot was much larger due to petroleum base lubricant and lubricant may of leaked out from pin.
6. Caliper pin which is only one per side looks like it has metal fatigue. The metal color is blue both sides. It is usually a shiny chrome like color.
7. Emergency brakes when tested, before teardown, go down a few inches and are tight but car still moves.
8. Should of replaced clips at the time. I greased them and I do not think your suppose to and they are now worn from use
9. One hub spins easily and the other hub spins fine but a little less easily. No noises. Just noticed.

To do ( I think)
Order new boots, clips and caliper pins. Need to lubricate with silicone grease.
I just bought some for my RAV4 which I did brakes on. Called Toyota Rubber Grease.
This could be my problem.

Also check front brakes since the backs were not working well that put more stress on fronts.

I need to check that the emergency brake cable is not stuck due to rust or something. I could push the emergency brakes down a little to see if they spread.

Leaving it jacked up on stands during week while I look at it again for anything else unusual.

Also noticed to I have no shims and per the schematic my pads have shims and likely sold separately.

Noise from front or back brakes?

Does the noise happen when first braking or say from changing the cars direction from forward to back or back to forward?

Toyota brakes had shims but some aftermarket products don't come with them or don't fit the Toyota shims.

The V6 parking brake has its own drum separate from the rear disk brakes. Could be the applying the parking brake takes the slack out of the brake pad system which was making the noise.

If grinding noise check for metal on metal issues with the brake/drum/rotor or possible wheel bearing issues.

Check if the brake splash shield is rubbing against the rotor.

Tried to push emergencies down. Hard to push and with rotor and caliper removed emergencies can see shoes do not move. Since emergencies worked before installing new ones will take apart check cable if stuck which should not be the issue and determine what I installed incorrectly.

Actually trying to adjust emergencies correctly first. Also there is a slider on the caliper that should slide and was frozen in there. Look at picture The dust covers enlarged due to using petroueum instead of non petroleum lubricant. You can see the two sliders one on brake pad holder and one on caliper Caliper slider had to be hit out. The dust boots were highly inflated and tore off for the most part. Does this make sense. Thanks? Metal has a bluish tint.

Its been a while but noticed emergency brakes when pushed down and then released don't come back fully. There is a spring and mini shock I need to buy I think.
