trouble starting and strange behavior
i got this 99 LE V6 camry, 96k miles
drives great once it starts. lately it has been acting funny when starting. sometimes i have to crank it a couple of times to get it going. other times it's just silent but i hear a click when i turn the ignition.
today was real bizarre. i was trying to start it and it began cranking, turning over and didn't stop. i pulled the key out of the ignition and it continued this for about 10 seconds! it didn't stop until i put the key back in and the engine was started. i didn't ever think it would continue turning over after the key had been turned off and pulled out! is this an electrical problem? i thought my car was possessed.
any help would be appreciated.

RE: trouble starting and strange behavior
Most likely the solenoid in the engines starter motor is sticking. The solenoid is a relay that controls electric power from the battery to the starter. If it fails to engage or sticks closed you will get the clicking or the starter motor continuing to run after the key is turned off.
The solenoid is bolted to the starter motor and comes out as unit.
